Maritime Management

“Safe and sustainably profitable shipping is what Rivermaas aims for. This typically features strong cooperation between specialist partners. Rivermaas is responsible for the technical management of its own fleet of ships that operate in the Greater Europe short sea shipping sector. The contributions of our partners include crew management and commercial management”

Ensuring that technical management is handled by people who have been trained to be officers and who have experience as officers on board seagoing vessels means we have acquired a vast wealth of knowledge and experience. In day-to-day operations, Rivermaas can therefore ensure professional maintenance and crew supervision as well as high-quality logistics.

Two ships are currently permanently active in the Northern European waters. Because all our ships have the highest classification for coping with ice, these two ships can permanently cover a large area. Three other ships focus on transporting bulk goods between ports in Central and Southern Europe and those in North Africa.

The crews on the ships are responsible for part of the maintenance work. If specialist service technicians and maintenance services are required, this will be taken care of at the ports. Rivermaas purchases these services and uses a strategic maintenance schedule to decide on the investments in maintenance and innovation on the ships. The knowledge and skill of the crew on the spot are expressly included when this is weighed up.

Rivermaas believes in firm commitment, in the technical management of ships as well. It has therefore deliberately chosen to run a relatively small fleet that currently consists of five ships. The ships are visited by representatives of Rivermaas almost every month. The organisation can be reached 24/7 in the event of emergencies or incidents.

Rivermaas aims to deploy fixed crews, who then have close ties with the ships that they work on. Requests and questions from the crew will always get a response within 24 hours. Provisioning on board is generous and there is always plenty of food and drink available. Click here to read more about our crew management.

Ever since Rivermaas officially became a ship owner and was subject to regular audits in ports (including for the DOC), the score has always been almost 100%. This is the result of our high-quality technical management. It reduces the risk of delays on the way and increases the revenues.

Ensuring that technical management is handled by people who have been trained to be officers and who have experience as officers on board seagoing vessels means we have acquired a vast wealth of knowledge and experience. The focus on short sea shipping in the Greater Europe segment has also given us plenty of knowledge and experience in this specific sector. Our network makes sure that additional expertise is close at hand. Click here to read more about the cooperation with Marlow, Vertom and ARAS Shipbrokers.
